Pictures of the Whirlpool Rapids, Niagara River, in the Niagara Gorge.  The rapids are upstream from, and empty into 'The Whirlpool' itself.  Speed of the water is 35.4 km/h (22 mph) and it's 10.7 meters (35 ft) deep.  It's one of the top ten most dangerous rapids in the world, rated 6 in a rating system that goes from class 1 to class 6, with extreme currents, extreme drop (52 feet in less than a mile) and extreme volume of water (100,000 cubic feet per second).  Boating of any kind is prohibited by law.

     Best viewed on 19 inch monitor or larger.
