Photos of the Whirlpool
Jet
Boats, Niagara Falls area. The jet boats on the Canadian side start
off in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. They head up the lower Niagara river past
the Queenstown-Lewiston Bridge, through the Niagara Gorge to the Niagara
Glen area, where they nose dive through the category 5, Devil's Hole Rapids.
Then they head up to the Niagara Whirlpool, but stop short of the Whirlpool
Rapids which are further upstream, those rapids are just too treacherous,
being rated a category 6.
The water through the Devil’s Hole Rapids where most of these pictures were
taken reaches 36km/hr (23 mph).
More than 168,000 cubic meters (6 million cubic feet) of water go through
the Devil's Hole Rapids every minute during peak daytime tourist hours.
Basically all the water you see going over Niagara Falls.
